Guide to choosing a range hood

The  hood is one of the most important appliances in the kitchen: it helps to shape the design of the kitchen and ensures constant air exchange, preventing your kitchen and home from building up unpleasant odors, steam, smoke, grease and heat that are created during cooking.

The air we breathe is one of the determining factors for our well-being. We are often not aware of the degree of indoor pollution to which we are subjected every day: the kitchen hood is our best ally for breathing clean air.

There are many elements to take into account when choosing a hood: the space and type of environment in which it is to be installed, the design, the filtering method, the efficiency and the technical characteristics.

Our guide will accompany you in choosing the best hood, capable of meeting all your needs.

Choose the installation/filtering mode: Ducted models

Choose the installation/filtering mode: Ducted models

A ducted hood connected to the chimney which expels odors, heat, humidity and other cooking by-products outside the home via specific ductwork and is made up of:

  • External body of the hood
  • Motor and impeller system (takes in the air)
  • Ductwork (the air is expelled outside the house)
  • Grease filter (prevents grease from damaging the motor and captures the grease that would otherwise return back to your kitchen).

*All our hoods can operate in both extraction and filtering modes unless otherwise specified

Choose installation/filtering mode: Ductless or Recirculating*

A ductless hood is not connected to outdoor ductwork and does not vent outside. It purifies the air from odors and vapor through specific activated charcoal / carbon filters, and then reintroduces the clean air into the home , consists of:

  • External body of the hood
  • Motor and impeller system (takes in the air)
  • Charcoal filters (filters the air from odors and must be replaced periodically. See the guide for choosing charcoal filters);
  • Grease filter (prevents grease from damaging the motor and captures the grease that would otherwise return back to your kitchen).

*All Faber hoods can operate in both ducted and ductless mode, unless otherwise specified.

Choose the type and design

Wall-mounted, built-in or island, modern, classic or contemporary, the hood must be able to meet the needs of space, design and practicality.

  • Island mounted hoods

The perfect choice for a kitchen with a central island where the cooking is located

  • Wall-mounted hoods

T-shaped, chimney or vertical, these hoods exist in different shapes, sizes and finishes and are mounted on the wall.

  • Ceiling and downdraft hoods

Ideal if you are looking for a discreet and sophisticated solution. They are installed inside the ceiling or integrated into the countertop.

  • Built-in model hoods

Versatile cabinet insert models that allow your cabinet design above the stove to stand out in the kitchen. Available in many power levels, designs and cabinet widths and depths.

  • Undercabinet model hoods

Versatile undercabinet models are installed beneath the cabinet and in most cases allow for the upper cabinet to be used for storage. They come in various widths and styles to accommodate many kitchen designs.
